TradingView and MT5 Backtest Analysis
Open a TradingView List of Trades CSV, an optimization results CSV or an MT5 Strategy Tester report to review profit, maximum drawdown, profit concentration and how results spread across parameter sets. Everything is calculated in your browser, and no sign-in is needed.
Open a results file exported from the TradingView or MT5 Strategy Tester. The page detects the file type and shows either a strategy analysis or a parameter analysis. Files are read and calculated in your browser.
File analysis requires JavaScript. The file formats and export steps on this page can be read without it.
Files you can open
- TradingView List of Trades CSV: the trade list exported from the Strategy Tester. The entry and exit rows for each trade number and the P&L column feed a strategy analysis. Positions that are still open are left out.
- Optimization results CSV: one row per parameter set, with parameter columns and performance columns such as Net Profit, Profit Factor, Win Rate or Total Trades. Optimization CSVs saved by the OptiNod extension use this layout. It opens as a parameter analysis.
- MT5 Strategy Tester report (HTML or HTM): a backtest report with a Deals table. MT5 Trade History reports are read the same way. It opens as a strategy analysis.
- MT5 optimization results (XML): Strategy Tester optimization results exported as XML. Optimization results saved as HTML are read too. It opens as a parameter analysis.
Each file can be up to 10MB. Files ending in .csv, .html, .htm or .xml are accepted.
Exporting the trade list from TradingView
- Add the strategy to a chart and open the Strategy Tester panel below the chart.
- Click the download icon to the right of List of trades to save the CSV file.
- Drag the saved file onto this page, or open it with the file picker.
What the analysis shows
- Strategy analysis: profit and loss, win rate, profit factor, maximum drawdown, the cumulative closed P&L curve, long and short results side by side, how much of the profit comes from a few trades, what remains after added costs, and candidate experiments to test next.
- Parameter analysis: how results are distributed across parameter sets, which parameters move the result most, heatmaps for two parameters at once, whether performance holds at neighboring values, the trade-off between return and drawdown, and the full results table.
- You can open a second file of the same kind to compare two results side by side, and export the analysis as a PDF. Strategy files are compared with strategy files, and optimization files with optimization files.
Sign-in and saving
Analyzing a file needs no sign-in and no browser extension. An analysis opened while signed out is not kept in this browser; to keep it, save it to a free account. Saved analyses can be reopened from My Results.
The analysis is calculated from the past trades recorded in your file. It does not predict or guarantee future returns and does not recommend buying or selling.
